Fiona WaddellFiona Waddell is the Director responsible for our clinical trial services. Fiona writes protocols, CRFs and all study documentation, ethics applications, trial summaries etc. She is experienced in all phases of clinical trials and all aspects of clinical trial project management in both pharmaceutical and medical devices. With her background in personal skills development, she acts as a mentor for all aspects of clinical trials and is a trainer for clinical trials courses in both pharmaceutical and medical device regulatory standards in the UK and Europe. Fiona is a Registered General Nurse (Edinburgh, 1978) and has worked in clinical research, both academic and commercial for more than 20 years in many therapeutic areas including orthopaedics, cardiovascular, neurology, haematology, urology, gynaecology, cancer and general surgery. Murray is our newly acquired medical advisor and brings more than 30 years’ experience of being an NHS consultant in anaesthetics and pain management to Tower Mains Limited. Murray is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, The British Pain Society, The North British Pain Association and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He has been chairman and member of many Scottish and UK medical committees. He also brings many years’ practical experience of participating in clinical trials. Murray has maintained a life-long interest in the sea and is not only the Commodore of a local yacht club but has also recently completed a trans-Atlantic Tall Ships voyage as medical officer. Dr Marie BandMarie graduated from University College Dublin, Ireland with a PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1995. After working in medical writing, process development and production roles, she began her role as a Regulatory Affairs Executive in 1997. Marie gained experience of managing the regulatory affairs aspect of drug development programmes including project/finance management, provision of regulatory/ICH-GCP advice, dossier compilation and advising on advertising regulations. Moving to Quintiles (now Aptuit) in 1998 allowed Marie to increase her knowledge of regulatory affairs where she was responsible for leading the operational and financial aspect of a multi-functional project team (Phase II-IV). This role included providing strategic consultancy to clients/Quintiles units worldwide, managing their expectations by setting priorities and delivering work that met quality, costs and time set for the project. In addition, Marie liaised with key departments to ensure timely submissions of clinical trial applications and registration dossiers worldwide and interacted with competent authorities to achieve optimum regulatory authority approval. Marie joined AstraZeneca Clinical Research unit in 2002. As Clinical Process Manager she was lead for the Regulatory & Compliance area, which included project management of key clinical projects and the co-ordination of regulatory inspections and internal audits and the implementation and training of procedural documents and processes. She successfully project managed the local implementation of the Clinical Trials Directive into company procedures and processes. Marie joined Tower Mains Limited in 2006. As Clinical Project Manager she is responsible for the management of specific clinical trials ensuring their efficient organisation and implementation. Dr Julie EastgateJulie Eastgate is our Medical Writer responsible for writing scientific reviews, grant applications, protocols, ethics applications, interim and final reports, marketing synopses and trial summaries. After graduating from The University of Surrey in 1987, Julie completed a PhD in 1990 on inflammatory disease in the Department of Medicine, University of Edinburgh. Since then she has worked in both medical and academic environments in both the UK and USA and has been a Member of the Editorial Board of Microbiology and a Scientific Referee for numerous other journals. She has an impressive list of academic publications from 1988 to date. Julie currently holds a university lecturer/researcher post and has experience in a number of therapeutic areas eg inflammatory disease (particularly in rheumatoid arthritis), cancer, antimicrobial agents, radiology.
Andrea ValerioteAndrea joined Tower Mains in June 2007 and supports the team by looking after our administrative requirements. Andrea comes from Canada and is studying for a degree at Queen Margaret University. |
